Inspiring a life with smiles...™
After spending 8 years living on the (very wintery) East Coast, I'm totally indulging in a California Holiday Season with sunshine, decorated palm trees, and acai bowls in place of grey skies, snow, and fruitcake.
However I've been so busy settling in to my new life, that I almost "forgot" about stopping to celebrate the fun of this time of year. And it seems I'm not alone in my crazy schedule.-induced amnesia. Almost every person I have run into - both friends and strangers - seem so terribly overwhelmed this holiday season. Most conversations start with any of the following:
I haven't started my shopping yet.
The big topic of conversation seems to be what to GET someone to show they are loved/appreciated/noticed. Being a bit late on Christmas cards this year, decorating, or even realizing that tis the season, I finally got around to thinking about what I want for Christmas. And since I haven't been the least bit NAUGHTY this year (or at least not in any way that I would confess to on a very public blog post), I'm truly hoping that Santa will give me everything on my Christmas list:
Time to spend with my loved ones - friends and family. Time to grab a tea/coffee, time to chat on the phone or Skype, time to text each other jokes, time to reminisce about the good ole days, time to make memories so we can add to those nostalgic rose-colored recollections...Time to hug, laugh, cry, sing, dance, and sit in stillness...
To continue to leap into the unknown and trust that I will have the strength to face whatever comes my way. To say "I love you" often, loudly, and sincerely. To speak up for those who can't, and for myself when necessary. To pray without conditions, strings or fear. To embrace my inner child in those moments when I simply can't adult anymore, and occasionally "adult" even when I don't want to...
AN OPEN HEART
One that allows me to drink in the gorgeousness of my surroundings. One that reminds me to pause and listen to what others say and be present when I'm with them. One that continues to believe in the good of the world even when the news says otherwise. One that has an infinite elasticity to add to the always growing list of those people, things, and ideas that I love...
So that's my list my lovely darlings...and I'm leaving out my vegan cookies and almond milk for Santa...just in case! #notabovebribery
