Last month I registered for my first 5k. With a September date, I figured that was plenty of time to train, and wasted no time in getting started. Flash forward to the present, and starts and stops due to a vacation, an illness, and the occasional blip in my work schedule have led to a less than stellar improvement in performance. (Okay so no complaints about the vacation...I loved every minute of it. But still, my training plan was derailed a bit...) After a particularly blah run today, I started to feel a bit down and out, but then...
"How was your run?" SigO asked as I trudged back into the driveway.
"Not great. Halfway thru I felt like I was slogging through water," I replied despondently.
"Okay, not every day will be a great run. You said you felt a bit off today. You'll have a better run next time." The SigO turned back to polishing his Harley with a smile and a wink.
Perhaps it was the smile of encouragement. Maybe it was the wink; he looks particularly sexy when he winks at me. Suddenly I felt much better. So in the spirit of embracing the optimism that I usually feel, here's a list of reasons to continue running:
